THIS TUTORIAL WILL GUIDE YOU STEP-BY-STEP ON HOW TO USE YOUR BLACKBERRY AS A MODEM, USE IT TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET, AND BROWSE USING YOUR BLACKBERRY BIS SUBSCRIPTION.
STEP 1. Subscribe to MTN BIS with the following code:
BBC to 21600(N1500/month) or BBC WEEK to 21600(N500/Week)
I will advise you to Subscribe to the Unlimited MTN BIS plan. The above subscription can be exhausted.
To Subscribe to the Unlimited Plan, send:
BIS to 21600(N3000/month) or BBWEEK to 21600(N1000/month)
If you subscribe to the Complete Plan, you should always check the status of your BIS for the remaining data.
STEP 2. After your BIS becomes active, connect your BlackBerry Phone to the Blackberry Desktop Manager on your PC. Allow your Desktop manager to detect your device. You will know this when you see your BB Pin displayed at the bottom left corner of your BlackBerry manager. Click IP Modem. Under Connection Settings, Click Configure.
STEP 3. Create a new connection profile using the following details and save it:
- APN: blackberry.net
- USERNAME: web
- PASSWORD: web
STEP 4. Connect to the network by clicking “Connect”
STEP 5. Download the latest freegate from http://us.dongtaiwang.com/loc/software/fg/726/fg726p.exe
STEP 6. Launch this tunneler (it will connect automatically)
STEP 7. Configure your browser (Mozilla Firefox, Flock, Opera, etc) manually with HTTP Proxy:127.0.0.1 Port:8580
Internet Explorer is Configured Automatically.
STEP 8. That’s all you have to do. Start Enjoying your BIS on PC.

ANOTHER TUNNELING SOFTWARE THAT LETS YOU BROWSE ON PC WITH YOUR BLACKBERRY BIS IS ULTRASURF
STEPS 1-4 REMAIN THE SAME AS ABOVE
STEP 5. Download ultrasurf http://ultrasurf.us/download/u.zip
STEP 6. Extract the Ultrasurf and launch (it will connect automatically)
STEP 7. Configure your browser manually with HTTP Proxy:127.0.0.1 Port:9666
NOTE THAT IT DOESN’T WORK WITH BLACKBERRY DESKTOP MANAGER 6.1. YOU CAN ONLY USE V5.0, SO THAT IS WHAT YOU SHOULD INSTALL ON YOUR COMPUTER EVEN IF YOUR BB IS RUNNING ON OS6.

There is an update to this that works like this too but using different software but it only allows a maximum data transfer of 100MB per day. Of course this is for MTN Subscribers. You should see Etisalat BIS on Computer if you are an Etisalat Subscriber. I will update you on the new MTN settings in a couple of days. If you don’t want to miss it, read on.

My desktop manager is not connecting to the internet! Pls, help out!
Which version of Desktop manager are you using! It’s clearly stated that you should only use version 5. The link is provided there if you don’t have the CD-ROM.
Can this work with other network providers. I use Etisalat
I haven’t tried this on Etisalat. Just keep you fingers crossed and also subscribe to our updates via e-mail. I will let you know when I get result. Regards!
Does it work with Airtel ? Ultrasurf and freegate isn’t connecting, i have done BIS on my airtel. any help ?
I have only tested it on MTN. There is another software now that let’s you use Glo BIS on PC. I’m writing on that at the moment.
What I suggest that you should do is to use the SIM inside a plug and play modem. Set the APN as blackberry.net and it think it should work that way! Note: Do this without freegate and ultrasurf
This guy is probably not configuring it well. It works with freegate or ultrasurf. I use only ultrasurf with it. It’s a bit slow than that of MTN though.
Have you been able to work out the way to use Glo BIS on PC as you promised that worked?
Nice 1,it really help nw I use my BIS on system
I’m glad it helped. You can subscribe to our feeds to get more updates using the box above.

Hello,
Top of de day to you. Please, can this work with GLO BIS? If yes, please, kindly send the procedure to my mail.
Thanks and God bless.
There is another configuration entirely for Glo Blackberry BIS. A lot of people claim it is working but I haven’t gotten time to try it myself and that’s why I didn’t post it.
People that claim it works use DNS servers: Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8 Alternate: 8.8.4.4
You can get this from the advance settings.
Thanks brother.
I want to be your friend on facebook smith rothymee michels thanks.

Dis is nt Real ryt?
It used to work for everyone but now it has stopped working for some people. You can give it a try because you have nothing to lose. If it works, good for you and if it doesn’t, you can use your BIS on your Blackberry. We are still making efforts to get it back anyway.
I need the settings for BIS on PC with vodacom in South Africa. my e-mail. is brent@vodamail.co.za
I can’t promise anything because I’m not in SA and I can’t try anything with your real network and settings but I will make efforts.
Hey, can you please send me the settings for vodacome kyljasbra@hotmail.com shot!
Hey brother I'm currently in south africa, using a blackberry 9300 and subscribed to the vodacom bis. Is there anyway possible to use your services here in south africa..please email me your response on Nkulim@live.com.
It all depends on your network provider. Try it connecting with PDProxy. Register on their site pdproxy.com and download their software. Now configure your blackberry desktop manager and set the APN as blackberry.net
Now connect to the internet from the desktop manager, launch PDproxy and launch your browser.
Hi all..please help if u can..I got a blackberry 8520 and 9300..I followed the steps above..how to use your BIS service on pc for internet..but ultra sulf and fast gate can’t conect..I don’t know why..so I can’t browse on internet..please if u have any advice get back to me at marnuvanvuuren@gmail.com
Follow the same procedure to configure your Blackberry desktop manager but use PDProxy instead of Ultrasurf and Freegate. Just download it at pdproxy.com follow the instruction they give you there. Set your browser to detect proxy by default. Launch your PD proxy after connecting the desktop manager and start surfing. There is a daily limit of 100mb per day though.
Nice post was wondering if you can help me from South Africa using Cell C network carrier
