Most people usually prefer to have just a short introduction for about 5-10 lines on the home page instead of the whole article. This will display only the first paragraph or the point you choose on the front page.
It is quite simple to achieve but can be difficult to know for a newbie. I did a lot of research and search myself to get how to do this when I started this my own blog.
How to get this done:
Simple as it can be: in the text editor, show Kitchen Sink (i.e. the whole kit and caboodle – all possible icons).
Place the cursor at the end of the first paragraph or wherever you want the READ MORE button to appear, click that position, and click the More icon.
The icon looks like a page with a line cutting off the top.
If you are not publishing posts on the latest versions of WordPress, this feature might not be available. By this, I don’t mean you can’t use the button too but you can only achieve this with another method.
To do this, switch to HTML view and insert this pagebreak tag at the point where you want the text to break:
<!--more-->
Anything below this tag won’t show up on page index or front page.
Simple hum? That’s how it normally looks after you know it. You might even be temped to think you have to enter the source code to this if you haven’t found the solution.
