HOW TO VIEW PDF FILES ON BLACKBERRY SMARTPHONES.

Using BlackBerry as a PDF Viewer

I believe this is still one of the cons of BlackBerry Smartphones. I have one myself and you can’t just download a PDF file and click on it to open for your reading pleasure. No, at least not yet.

It amazes me when I think about how many basic features the Blackberry smartphones are lacking.I can remember another now. I suffer the lack of this feature everyday. I can’t believe, there is no “Select all” function in the BlackBerry Memo. It’s annoying.
Well, we should have borrowed a clue from the name of the Manufacturers- Research-In-Motion (RIM). Lol.

This is the default mean by which you can view PDF on your BlackBerry. To read Adobe PDF files on your BlackBerry, you can simply send that file as an attachment to your own email address and then use the built-in PDF viewer of BlackBerry’s email client to read that document. The same idea may be used for reading Office documents, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, on the BlackBerry.

But if your desire is just to download PDF and read or send PDF to your phone and read, then you need a standalone PDF viewer like the Documents to Go or Beam Reader. These apps can handle both PDF attachments and PDF documents stored on the memory card of your BlackBerry but you have to pay for them.

    Thank you for this. A lot of features still lacking on Blacberry. Thank you for this boss! Thanks

    • We have to live with that on or blackberry for now. I think they will improve. The new CEOs would want to make a statement after the former ones stepped down!

    I found one solution – it’s working, but can be improved:

    1) Instead of looking for BlackBerry PDF viewer, you can just use “Java mobile PDF viewer”. So I found this one: MobilePDF Reader!
    2) Just download and install on your BB and places it at Downloads folder;
    3) So run it – you can explore the folders and open PDF file.

    Issues:
    _ Not so fast – slow to navigate’;
    _ It keeps asking for authorization to open folders and files. I tried to give full access on permissions but it’s still asking for permission;
    _ The way it shows PDF files can lose some formatting.

    I’m using it on a Blackberry 9700 [Bold 2]. There is no harm trying it on your own Model too.
