I was in transit when the NLC/TUC Nationwide Strike in protest against the removal of fuel subsidy by President Goodluck Jonathan and I got stranded at one point. It’s one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had! I ran out of cash, misplaced the ATM card to the only Account I had money in. I was only left with my GTB ATM card, this is because I don’t normally transact with them but that would turn out to be a good thing for me.

I kept the card deep inside my back pack with my laptop, twin joystic game pad and my external hard disk.

After misplacing my wallet although with no cash in it but with my ATM cards, I started making SOS (grins) calls to different peolple that could help out. Nobody could help cos banks were not open. Then came the surprise.


After calling a friend living nearby in the city of Ibadan, I started using my “LEGedez Benz or FOOTwagen” to make my way to his house, a friend serving in Akwa-Ibom just called me. I explained my situation and he sympathized with me. Some munites later, I just got a Deposit Alert of money into my GTB Account made by my friend serving in Akwa-Ibom. I called to ask him how he did it, he said GTB internet banking.
