I’ve been getting a lot of messages from readers asking me how they can use their etisalat BlackBerry BIS to connect to the internet on their PCs. I’ve not been able to give a definite answer all these while because I haven’t tried it then. Now I have tried and use it myself.
Using your etisalat BIS on PC involves the following steps:
Tools needed:
•etisalat SIM
•GPRS enabled phone
•An Internet Modem
•Personal Computer
•Your Brain
1. Get an etisalat SIM and activate it for Data. A SIM should normally be automatically activated for internet immediately you insert into your phone and on it. If after some period you still don’t get the setting sent to you. Push etisalat Data Settings to your Phone.
If you already have a SIM you have been using to browse, you don’t need this step. Just proceed to step two.
2. Now that your SIM is internet ready, load a recharge card of N100 to your phone and subscribe to etisalat daily Blackberry voice plan. You can use the weekly or monthly plan. I just want to test with this first.
You can subscribe to etisalat daily Blackberry voice plan by dialing *449*3*2# with N100 on your phone. You can use any phone to subscribe. It doesn’t have to be a Blackberry.
Wait till you get a etisalat SMS that your subscription is successful.
3. Remove the etisalat SIM and insert into you Internet Modem. Connect your modem to your PC and create a new settings profile on your modem with the following information:
Profile name: CYNAMIX.NET (You can use anything)
APN: blackberry.net
ID/Username: leave empty
Password: leave empty
Advanced Settings:
Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8
Alternate DNS: 8.8.4.4
Save, select as the Default Setting and Connect to the Internet.
4. Now open your browser and use the following IP and Port:
IP: 10.71.170.5
Port: 8080
Save it and you are almost done.
Now type www.cynamix.net in the address and launch it. What do you see? It’s working! Lol
You can now visit any website of your choice and download as you want but don’t forget to drop you testimony here first that it’s working for you!
HERE IS AN UPDATE GUYS:
After you have used it with the IP for some days, you can remove the IP and Port from the browser and use “Automatically detect Proxy”. This way, you can open https (secure) sites.

It didn’t work for me, I have been using MTN for a month now, it worked suddenly stopped, etisalat doesn’t even connect at all.
Dis u subscribe to the one-day BIS plan for N100? Remember that you don’t need any software with it. It’s just your modem and browser!

Iv followed every single step u posted about usind etisalat bis on p.c with a woderm nd it still dosnt work.it sends data but not receiving back.what could ß d posible problems
It stopped like two days ago. I will update you soon on what to do next to browse with etisalat on PC.

Oh I’m sorry I can’t really answer that but I know people using Airtel BIS on a wide range of mobile phones including iPhone. U might want to experiment with that.

Oh, I wouldn’t know about that as I can’t really lay my hands on real Blackberry phones with UAE networks on them. You can give it a try to see if it works.

It stopped working, the onlu sure bet now is to use Airtel BIS. It doesn’t require any tunneler!
