HAVE YOU EVER MADE MONEY FROM ADSENSE? IT’S A SCAM

Such was the tweet I got from one of muy followers! Of course you can make a lot of money by serving Adsense on your sites. The tweet was borne out of my ‘recommendation’ of Google Adsense as one of the best ways to monetize a Blog in one of my previous articles that I titled EARN MORE FROM GOOGLE ADSENSE WITH ADSENSE REVENUE SHARING WEBSITES.

Here are some of the things you must keep in mind and adhere to in order to make money from Google Adsense:

FIND THE RIGHT NICHE:

Usually I always tell people to identify their interest and Blog on it but I think that’s if you want to become a popular blogger, so much respected but with little income from the blog. This is not always the case anyway because some niche will always bring money and if that happens to be where your interest lies. Bad meets evil. Lol.

I must say this that if you don’t have thousands of readers as a blogger in the Technology niche, you would always get that sad feeling whenever you login to your Adsense account. You will only see unencouraging figures like Today’s Earnings: £0.06, This month so far: £3.01. I hate to write it myself but I just had to. There is a simple explanation for this. Many tech-savvy people will never click ads. If you are a tech-related blogger, I’m sure you can count how many times you have clicked on Ads.

Find the right niche that fetch money for bloggers and you are good to go. I’ve found out from my research that entertainment, gossips, scholarships and job blogs make a lot from Adsense. I manage an entertainment blog with my brother and it brings adsense earnings in two digits on a daily basis.

USE THEMES OPTIMIZED FOR ADSENSE:

By this I don’t mean that you should design your site solely for Adsense. No. In fact this is the worst thing that you can do to your blog. Design your site for people and use a theme optimized for Adsense. A theme optimized for Adsense will help place adsense in positions that are great for high CTR. Many of them are also search engine friendly.

CHOOSE THE BEST POSITIONS FOR ADSENSE:

The best positions for Adsense units largely depends on your site layout. Ads placed at the top of the fold generally do well than others. If you have a blog, you might also want to use ad units at the top and immediately after posts. That works well too.

USE LARGE ADSENSE SIZES:

The size of the ad unit you use also play a large part in your ads click-through rate. You should use large ad sizes in order to get more clicks. This however depends on your blog niche and the layout of your blog.

Of all Adsense units, the large rectangle (336×280) has proven to be the best paying Adsense format. It’s really simple logic. The bigger the ad unit, the easier it gets noticed and clicked. The 336×280 is also the format in which video ads are shown, so it is arguably the best.

ADSENSE SECTION TARGETING:

With Adsense section targeting, you can suggest sections of your text and HTML content that you’d like Google to emphasize or play less emphasis on when matching ads to your site’s content.

Check out THIS TUTORIAL by Google on how to go about implementing section targeting on your website.

Note that It is against Adsense program policies to manipulate the ad targeting to result in ads that are not relevant to the content of your pages. Take note.

FINALLY, DON’T ANNOY GOOGLE:

The final tip which is the most important is abiding by Google Adsense Policy. Unfortunately many Adsense Publishers don’t take it serious. Play by the rules and you will eventually smile to the bank.
