As a Facebook user, you must know all these shortcuts for faster Facebook experience. These shortcuts surely reduces the frequency of dragging the mouse or moving the cursor around. The shortcuts are already built in your Facebook account so this is not any other person’s invention.
With the use of the Alt + series of other keys (Windows PC users), navigating around in your Facebook Account gets faster and easier. If you’re on a Mac, all you need to do is use Ctrl+Option+ in place of Alt.
HERE ARE THE SHORTCUTS:
Alt+?: Search
Alt+m: Compose a new message
Alt+1: Home page
Alt+2: Your profile page
Alt+3: Friend requests
Alt+4: Your messages
Alt+5: Notifications
Alt+6: Account page
Alt+7: Privacy
Alt+8: Facebook’s Facebook page
Alt+9: Facebook Terms/Agreement
Alt+0: Facebook help center
It’s also worth noting that aside from the your type of computer (PC or Mac), using these shortcus also depends on your type of browser.
Google Chrome: the shortcuts work best here, last time I checked, no addition needed.
Opera: Same as Chrome (Add Control key in Mac)
Safari: Same as Chrome (Add Control key in Mac)
Firefox: there is need to add Shift to the combination, so as not to trigger Firefox’s own Alt-centered operations. For example:
To search, use Alt + Shift + ? ; to compose a message use Alt + Shift + M
Internet Explorer: I don’ use it but people who have tried this ssaid it works hit Enter after pressing each combination.
NOTE: THESE SHORTCUTS WORK NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE ON FACEBOOK.
