WORDPRESS TIPS: ENABLNG SEF URL IN WORDPRESS

Enabling SEF URL in WordPress can be a nightmare for a Newbie but once you get hold of it, it is really really simple. This is what you have to do as a newbie:

I normally advise people to use this type of format of URL:

http://www.cynamix.net/70/how-to-get-faster-requests-with-mozilla-firefox-using-ipv4.html

There are some technical reasons why these URLs should start with a number and not just be a plain page name. So, start the URL with a number of some kind, such as the post ID, the year/month/day, or even just the year. Like this for example:

http://www.cynamix.net/70/how-to-get-faster-requests-with-mozilla-firefox-using-ipv4.html

There are issues here with poor database structure resulting, extended load time on busy sites, incorrect identification of the content item, inability to associate the CSS stylesheet with the page – and more. WordPress needs an URL to start with a numeric denominator not a letter.

Go to: Dashboard >> Settings >> Permalinks >> Common Settings >> Custom Structure >> enter text as follows, in the box:-

/%post_id%/%postname%.html
[ slash - the post # - slash - the post title - .html]

This will give an URL like:

http://www.cynamix.net/70/how-to-get-faster-requests-with-mozilla-firefox-using-ipv4.html

If you enter the text string without the slash that starts, WordPress inserts it automatically, as it must have it.
